The Teeside Gasport project was the construction of the world’s first dockside high pressure gas offloading facility for regasification vessels. As a strategic partner to construction contractor Murphy Group, Servelec Controls were awarded a £3.5million contract for control systems throughout the project, including distributed controls systems (DCS), fire and gas detection systems and emergency shut down systems.

The solution provided by Servelec Controls included:

  • Complete site wide control system (DCS)
  • Complete fire and gas detection system (inclusive of all field device detectors)
  • Complete mechanical fire and gas protection system (pipework, valve sets and 10M gallon tank)
  • Emergency shut down system (Two skids with primary & secondary shut down valves)
  • Three 10m local equipment rooms with all site control panels, switchboards equipment
  • 20m long by 8m wide 4 train pressure reduction skid to reduce pressure into the National Transmission System
  • Nitrogen blending skids that supplied turndown gas from the local BOC plant
  • Engineering support for the purchase of an Emco Wheaton LNG unloading arm

The Teeside Gasport now has the capacity to deliver up to 600 million cubic feet of natural gas per day from Excelerate Energy’s fleet of regasification vessel’s into the National Transmission System at the Teeside Gas Processing Plant.
