Servelec Controls had been ever-present on Project Viking at the Etzel Gas Storage Facility in Germany since 2006.

The facility acts as European energy hub and the aim of Project Viking was to connect the plant to the natural gas infrastructure in Holland, more than 60km away.

With projects awarded in phases, Servelec Controls won £6.5million worth of control and safety system contracts including:

  • Complete Site Wide Distributed Control System (DCS).
  • Emergency Shut Down System
  • Complete Fire & Gas Detection System (inclusive of all field device detectors).
  • Complete Mechanical Fire & Gas Protection System (pipework, valve sets etc).
  • Rotating Equipment Controls
  • Site access and security (CCTV, Access Control, PAS, Telecoms, Ind Networks etc).

As an invaluable engineering partner to the Technip/BP consortium, Servelec Controls have helped the facility to ensure a steady supply of gas throughout Europe.
