Morecambe Bay is home to seven Centrica Energy-owned offshore platforms and an onshore gas terminal, which have produced natural gas since 1985 and now account for 8% of gas production in the UK Continental Shelf.

Servelec Controls was initially awarded a £2million contract for safety system projects at the Rampside Gas Terminal and the first of the offshore assets. The contract included the design, supply, installation and commissioning of Emergency Shut Down and Fire and Gas systems.

The success and timely delivery of the project led to the safety systems being installed on the remaining assets in Morecambe Bay, in projects worth a further £11million.

Servelec Controls has also been commissioned to supply ongoing safety system engineering support and maintenance for Centrica’s Morecambe Bay onshore and offshore assets, including 24 hour support and regular scheduled site inspections.
