The Teesside Gasport project in 2006 was the construction of the world’s first dockside high pressure gas offloading facility for Regasification Vessels. As a strategic partner to construction contractor Murphy Group, Servelec Controls was awarded a £3.5million contract for control systems throughout the project, including Distributed Controls Systems, Fire & Gas Detection Systems and Emergency Shut Down Systems.

We became an integral part of the installation and commissioning team, while our flexible approach helped the Murphy Group deliver the project on-time and on-budget. The entire design and construction project took just 12 months, from site selection to bringing the project online.

The Teesside Gasport now has the capacity to deliver up to 600 million cubic feet of natural gas per day from Excelerate Energy’s fleet of Regasification Vessel’s into the National Transmission System at the Teeside Gas Processing Plant.

Our scope of work included:

  • Complete Site Wide Control System (DCS).
  • Complete Fire & Gas Detection System (inclusive of all field device detectors).
  • Complete Mechanical Fire & Gas Protection System (pipework, valve sets & 10M gallon tank).
  • Emergency Shut Down System (Two skids with primary & secondary shut down valves).
  • Local Equipment Room (Three 10m LER’s with all site control panels, switchboards etc).
  • 20m long by 8m wide 4 train pressure reduction skid to reduce pressure into the NTS.
  • Nitrogen blending skids that supplied turndown gas from the local BOC plant.
  • Engineering support for the purchase of an Emco Wheaton LNG unloading arm.
