Servelec Controls has been awarded a major Control Systems Framework Agreement by Sellafield Ltd, Europe’s most complex nuclear site. The multi-million pound agreement has initially been awarded on a 3-year basis, with a further one year extension option.
Sheffield-based Servelec Controls is one of the UK’s leading systems integrators and whole life-cycle services providers, with dedicated nuclear offices in Warrington and Glasgow.
The framework allows Servelec to provide legacy system replacements and upgrades of existing control systems across the 2,500 acre site, including PLC, DCS, SCADA, MIS and Waste Tracking Services. The Controls Framework also covers design, build, test, document supply and commissioning support, with contracts awarded through a mini-tendering process.
The award comes after a thorough tender and prequalification process lasting three months and covering every area of the business including technical capabilities, quality assurance, health and safety record, security processes and socio-economic commitments.
Alex Moore, Managing Director for Power at Servelec Controls, commented
“We are absolutely delighted with the award as it means we are able to continue our relationship with Sellafield, having worked on some fantastic projects with them over the last few years. The framework award is testament to the commitment and teamwork of a large number of people across the business, who pulled together to ensure that the exceptionally high standards of operation set by Sellafield were met.”
The framework is the second of its kind, introduced by Sellafield to reduce procurement and project times, as well as standardise pricing, documentation, execution and support across a wide variety of projects.
